Area Code 82 – Korçë

Overview of Area Code 82 (Korçë, Albania)

Area code 82 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the Korçë region in southeastern Albania. It covers the city of Korçë and its surrounding administrative areas, including Maliq, Voskopojë, and other nearby localities. As part of the Albanian numbering plan, this code is used for fixed-line (PSTN) services, and it follows the ITU-T E.164 international dialing format.

Dialing Formats

When calling a fixed-line number in Korçë, the complete national significant number (NSN) is 9 digits long, beginning with the area code. The format is:

• International format: +355 82 XXX XXX (from abroad)
• National format: 0 82 XXX XXX (within Albania, including the trunk prefix 0)

For example, a local number in Korçë might be +355 82 234 567 from overseas, or 082 234 567 when dialed from other parts of Albania.

Calling Instructions

For callers within Albania: Dial the trunk prefix 0, followed by the area code 82, and then the subscriber number. For instance, to call a Korçë landline from Tirana, you would dial 082 234 567.

For international callers: Dial your country's exit code (e.g., 00 from most European countries, 011 from the US/Canada), then Albania's country code 355, followed by the area code 82 (without the leading 0) and the subscriber number. For example, from the UK, you would dial 00 355 82 234 567.

Geographic Coverage and Administration

The Korçë area code serves the Korçë County, which is one of Albania's 12 counties. The region is known for its cultural heritage and proximity to the Greek border. The administrative jurisdiction for telecommunications in Albania is the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority (AKEP), which oversees the allocation and management of numbering resources.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

As of the latest updates, there is no overlay code for the Korçë area; the 82 code remains the sole geographic code for this region. Subscriber numbers within this code are typically 7 digits long, but the total length of the national significant number (including the area code) is 9 digits. This structure is consistent across Albania's fixed-line network.

When dialing locally within Korçë, the area code is still required, as Albanian fixed-line numbers do not support local dialing without the trunk prefix and area code. This is an important consideration for both residents and businesses.

For accurate and up-to-date dialing information, always consult your service provider or the official AKEP guidelines.
